lolcat of the day

i like this picture enormously at the moment
i like that over the weekend i saw two of my friends and i held out my fist and only had to say "my fist" and they bumped it
and at work today i held out my fist, just lower than shoulder height and perpendicular to my body, and two different nurses who are from markedly different generations than myself gamely bumped fists with me without question
it was very very very funny, and i laughed on the inside, because my angry was too powerful for the laughing to make it all the way to the outside. in fact, angriness boiled and roiled and seethed inside enough that i had to resort to indigestion remedies in order to try to quell the fire.
then after work i went to boxing with richard, and once i had my gloves on i held out my fist again, and he bumped it with the big boxing pad, and then we both said "yeah"
and then i did 30 minutes of boxing circuit, and we both agreed that my right cross is the best
and then i told my favourite joke at the moment, but i might need to post that separately
possibly in pictorial form

and that's all

first day back at work in an hour

and oh look

i've already got my crank on (multifactorial and complex)

especially when i woke up and i really hadn't completed some sort of amazing triathlon effort where my dogpaddle was praised and lauded

and it was only 4.21am

i think it may be a long day

inner dialogue

oh hai there, chirsty, whaddya know?

well, chirsty, thanks for asking. i know plenty of things.

yeah chirst? like what?

well, chirsty, as you know i'm on holiday. and my days follow a rigidly structured pattern that leaves no room for spontaneity whatsoever. just like my real life.

chirst, that's a lie. as you and i both well know.

ok, chirst, you caught me. i've been up to the usual, which leaves plenty of room for improvisation in the planning arena.

ah so, chirst. like what?

well, chirst, i like to get up between about 0930 and 10ish. then i have a play on teh interwebs for a while, eat some breakfast in front of MASH, and then i like to ride my bike in the sun for an hour or so. today i rode from avondale through the bexley wetlands, out to south brighton and all the way along marine parade to the sculpture garden and back. i'm getting very tanned and outdoorsy-athletic looking. then i like to venture out of the house for the afternoon, but i have to make sure i'm armed with google map instructions for every eventuality i might want to navigate. i learned the hard way last week when i got lost coming back from the palms mall and ended up so very very lost. with no map. or sense of direction in my pretty little head. thus i had to make my way out to the airport and follow my only directions back to home base from there. it was a sad time in the life of the chirsty indeed, for there were cream filled delights waiting in the boot to be consumed. but all was well that ended well, because cream filled raspberry buns can make anything ok in the end.

that's pretty good holiday living there, chirst. anything else happening up in chirstchurch for you lately?

well, chirst, funny you should mention it. i DID go on a date last night.

really, chirst? a date in chirstchurch with a chirstchurch boy? you sure do go on a lot of dates, lady.

hush it chirst. that kind of talk wears on a chirst's last nerve.

sorry chirst. how was it, anyway?

it was fun, chirst. it was pretty good, actually.

and, chirst?

nup. that's all you're getting, chirsty. so there.

pttsssssssschhhhhh, chirsty.

oh shoosh it yourself, chirst. it's bikini weather here, and i'm going to lie out in the sun and read "the thorn birds" because my brain is on vacay too. so, ciao.

ok, chirsty, ciao.

hesitate you die

it
was
awesome

and it really was like going back in time - i mean, seriously! it really was - i felt like i was at sammys, 1993/1994, little dress, boots and all

except that i really missed my friend rhys - i had seen pavement both the other times with him, and i kept expecting to turn around and see him there, especially when the band launched into "summer babe" and "box elder" - so just a couple of tears (and no, of course not, nothing to do with the bottle of sav blanc and the bourbon and cola chasers, nothing at all) at a couple of points

but i did meet a very nice boy who talked band talk with me (oh, very good it was too, oh how i miss being able to talk indie rock) and he very kindly asked me if i wanted to stand in front of him

which i did

so look
look carefully
carrie and i are about four rows back from spiral stairs on the right

and we moshed and we moshed
and we sang and we sang
and other people's sweat got sprayed all over us

and the next day i had a hurty hip and a hoarse voice and i was thankful to richard for the twice weekly boxing sessions with all those millions of punches that enabled me to punch the air for a goodly amount of those 25 songs

on the plane home there were a couple of guys wearing pavement t-shirts and a couple more (including myself, bien sur) with the general admission green wrist bands. i left mine on for two days, like a kid who tries to save their hydroslide stamp at moana pool (ok, that's going back one of a billion years) - i took it off on wednesday night

but i can still feel it on my wrist

when i meet my handsome tall funny rich witty smart fit strong generous intuitive billionaire boyfriend he can fly me around the world to see as much pavement as my little matador records loving heart desires

yes
