time difference

today was not one of the better days for the chirst

it could have been much worse, but admittedly, it could have been much better

i haven't been feeling so crash hot the last few days, so i've spent most of the day cocooned in my awesome bed, watching the rest of season 2 of 'house', and then i finally went to the video store and procured 'the time traveler's wife' to watch (sidebar - in line with the miles/jack dichotomy of 'sideways' i've diagnosed myself as having house/wilson dualism - as you were)

if you've read the book and if you know me at all and if you've read this then that gives you kind of a gauge to check for your chirst

and oh, it was just like i thought it would be. nowhere near as good as the book, bien sur, but they have a pavement poster in it! henry and claire are supposed to go to a violent femmes concert, which is totally omitted, but henry comes out of a concert and you can see pavement posters on the walls - apparently pavement are one of the director's favourite bands.

henry and claire, especially towards the end, can be seen as a filmic representation of "want but can not has" - i think this is what strikes a chord with me. that and the love and the desire and the want. all of that.

all of it

  2. snap - i also watched time traveller's wife last weekend. used up all my tissues and left me with a terrible feeling of longing. and made me think about dying my hair red. not ginger red. proper red. do you remember a bit in the book about henry having sex with himself on one of his time travels? apparently they left that bit out of the movie. but how can i not remember it in the book??

  3. yes - his dad catches him in bed with himself when he is a teenager - henry had left the door unlocked. i was disappointed with the lack of redness in claire's hair when she was grown up - i always imagined her being claire from 'six feet under', because she was a claire wih red hair who was an artist
